4 Steps to Monetize Your Blog

4 Steps to Monetize Your Blog Through Affiliate Marketing

There are 4 easy steps about how to monetize your blog through affiliate marketing. In these steps we will discuss the quickest 4 ways of how to monetize your blog.

Here are four quick steps to monetizing your blog through affiliate marketing.

1. Choose Relevant Affiliate Programs

Affiliate ads pay per action, which means that readers will need to click on the ad and then either sign up or register for something, or make a purchase before you get paid for the action. The more relevant the ad is to your content, the higher the likelihood visitors will click on the ad and perform the desired action.
So, what type of affiliate program will provide the most relevant ads for your blog? If you're focused on a particular topic, you will want to join affiliates specifically associated with your content. For example, if you have a photography site, you might apply to be an affiliate with a camera equipment dealer.
Many bloggers start with Amazon Associates since Amazon sells millions of diverse products that are likely to be a fit for most bloggers. Amazon pays commissions of 4% to 15%, depending on volume and product type.
To find other targeted affiliate programs, check out popular affiliate clearinghouse sites such as Commission JunctionLinkShare, and ShareASale. All three offer access to thousands of affiliate programs, but you must apply separately to each one.
While you should choose programs related to your content, you don't have to feel restricted to stick too closely to your niche, says marketing consultant Dennis Duty. Think about what other types of products your audience might be interested in.

"Perhaps your Halo audience would enjoy other FPS games as well," says Duty.

2. Consider an Affiliate Aggregator Service

If your blog topics are more diverse, you might consider a program such as VigLink, which automates access to more than 30,000 affiliate programs and monetizes the links on your site for you.
For example, if a blogger is writing about a new pair of shoes they found on Zappos, instead of having to sign up with the Zappos affiliate program directly, they can work with VigLink, which will automatically append the affiliate code to the link and pay the blogger their earned commissions. While VigLink typically keeps 25% for this service, the company claims that because of their size, they "often negotiate higher commissions that more than cover our share," says Oliver Deighton, vice president of marketing at VigLink.
In addition to automatically monetizing existing links, VigLink can also optionally insert new, ordinary links where none existed before. For example, if a blogger mentions a product, brand or store, they don't have to worry about linking it themselves: VigLink will take care of that with its link insertion technology, which optimizes for both user experience and revenue.

"For most websites, link insertion lifts VigLink revenue by more than 90%," adds Deighton.
Deighton notes that while any blogger can try VigLink, bloggers will find the most success if their content is geared toward commerce.

"Hobbies, fashion, tech gear, deals and savings are all topics that naturally lead to spending; religion, food, raising children are less ideal," adds Deighton.

3. Create Content That Sells

Many bloggers will actually write reviews of products with affiliate marketing in mind.

"The power of a blog is that it's easy to aggregate a lot of loyal fans for niche topics. This lends itself to making recommendations and providing affiliate links to those recommendations," says Chris Conrey, a partner at digital marketing company Vuurr.com. But just throwing out links to products with no rhyme or reason will result in a quick exit by visitors, writes Lynn Truong, Editor-in-Chief of Wise Bread, a popular personal finance site.
"Think of affiliate ads as additional resources that complement your content," says Truong. "Don't put up a list of your favorite books, hoping people will click on the affiliate link and purchase the books just because you listed them. Take some time to write a detailed review, and use affiliate ads to point them in the right direction if they decide to act on your information."

4. Integrate Affiliate Links Appropriately

If you do add affiliate links to your site, make sure you maintain a balance between monetization and user experience, suggests web designer Kevin Spence.
One way to do this is to keep the majority of your content ad-free.

"What I would recommend to people is to think of 5-10 great pages that you could use to promote affiliate offers related to your niche. Then link to those money pages from your sidebar, footer or somewhere else that will give them a lot of visibility from the other pages on your site. Keep the rest of your site ad-free," says Spence. "The goal is not to monetize every page, but for every page to be a potential gateway to monetization."

How To Make A Million Dollars

Ever wanted to know how to make a million dollars? and I mean realistically. Not through a dodgy “Get Rich Quick Scheme” either. This awesome plan created by Sara Beth Allen, originally appeared on Medium, and is a must know guide for anyone looking at making a million dollars in any area that they are passionate in.

A Great & Effective Plan For Making A Million Dollars

No cheesy suite or hoodie needed:

Supplies:

A Google doc/Excel sheet (What’s come over me?)

Song: Million Bucks by Maino on Spotify

Pick my income? Who does that? Isn’t salary something you grovel for with manipulative tactics? This is the plan I’m currently using that makes me want to get out of bed in the morning. No, I’m not a millionaire, YET. I’m not playing at Sir Richard Branson or even a finance specialist. I went to art school. I do know that years of business classes and working for Internet marketing gurus made me want to poke my own eye out with a pencil.
First we’re going to talk about cash in a “take what’s yours,” attitude. If you’re going to get uncomfortable click the X on the top right corner. I came from a house where talking about money in a positive sense never happened. I used to hide from my Father when the credit card bills came.
This changes all of the panic mentality around money.None of this is rocket science and I have no idea why people don’t do this. If it’s not fun you’re doing it wrong.

1. Select your ten top interests. These go in the top row of your Excel sheet. I don’t care if you’re flipping burgers right now or cleaning bathroooms. This is for you. I don’t care if you’re fending off a case of the blues because somebody left you in the park. You have ten different interests. My interests that I listed are (photography, design, marketing, public relations, writing, fitness, travel, fashion, event planning, and theater). I also have a column for non-profit work and random things that didn’t make sense in the other categories.

2. Each interest becomes a profit category. Put each interest as a column header. You are going to bank $100,000 in each of your own interests. Being a New Yorker, I never believe people when they go dropping numbers like they’re tacos. How are you going to get to $100,000?

3. Pick 10 projects for each category. This may take a bit of brainstorming but if you’re into everything from construction to body building you can get to $10,000. I know you can get to $10,000 by designing five websites or photographing five weddings. Most likely, you’ll totally outgrow that $10,000 benchmark.

4. Did you just suggest that I open 100 businesses? Not all at once, clearly. If you have enough projects going you’ll see momentum somewhere.

5. I’m sure someone is thinking, “What if one of these things fail?” You have 99 other things in your Excel sheet. Go do those.

6. I always encounter people who feel like a business must have huge costs to get started. Trying to meet just the $10,000 benchmark insures you won’t go to crazy trying to open a theme park (yet).

7. A list of 100 ideas to execute may freak you out if you see yourself as “just an illustrator.” I think it’s okay to develop a wider definition for ourselves. Fear of failure makes us come up with things like, “never a corporate sellout,” or “too down to earth want something like that.” Also, what’s cooler? A broke illustrator or one with ten projects in the mix? That they picked. In the words of Seth Godin, “pick yourself.”

8. Have fun with this. Some ideas won’t seem like a full time calling like running a film festival in your neighborhood. Except, that’s the kind of fun thing a girl could do for the rest of her life.

9. If you’re philanthropic you still have to brainstorm ways to make a profit. That’s a topic for another piece but wanting to help people is not an excuse to starve. If you’re selling the tickets to that concert for charity make sure you get paid. You’re going to learn to write yourself a check for helping people.

10. Share these with friends. You have someone in your life who will take interest in your personal training business, retreat to Bali, and bike tours.

11. Share your spreadsheets with me! I love seeing these.

How to Market Your Blog

How To Create A Facebook Page For Your Blog

Facebook has quickly become THE social media site. If you aren’t on it, then you’re missing out. As a blogger, you can use this tool to not only make connections and stay in touch with other bloggers, but you can also use Facebook to promote your blog!
You may be thinking, “But isn’t my Twitter account enough?” No. With Facebook being more popular than Google as well as the number one ranked site in several countries, you need to take advantage of the 400 million users that are on the site. We will start with how to create the page itself to how to find more fans so you can promote, promote, promote!

Step 1: Create A Facebook Page

If you don’t have an account yet, then get one. It’s quick and easy to create. Once you have your very own account, you can then find the “Ads and Pages” link on the sidebar of your Profile.
NOTE: A lot of users have found that this link seems to be mysteriously missing, but you can still access the “Ads and Pages” link from this URL: https://www.facebook.com/pages/create.php.

Step 2: Select Your Page Type

It has fortunately offered a load of different pages types that you can choose from. Most bloggers will probably want to choose the “Brand, Products or Organization” option, and then scroll down to the very bottom of the drop down available to find “website”. From there, you will be able to give your website a new name. It’s always best to go with the name of your website so that users can quickly and easily associate it with your site.
After you are finished setting up the site, make sure that you tick the box that will authorize you as the representative for your own blog. Then all you have to do is click “Create Official Page.”

Step 3: Customize Your Page

So it may look a bit empty at first. You can easily start fixing it up to make your page more exciting. For an image, make sure that you add either your website’s logo, or a picture of yourself. Using a picture of yourself will make the page more personal, but if you want to brand your site more than brand yourself, use the logo.
You will also need to add a short little blurb about your blog. Make it short yet descriptive so that users will know exactly what they’ll be in for when they visit your blog.

Step 4: Using The FMBL App

Congrats! You should now have a fairly well set up Facebook page that is almost ready for fans. You will find that in the sidebar an “Edit” tab. Click this tab, and then scroll to the bottom of the page to find more applications. Click on “Browse More” and then choose the “Static FMBL” app.
TIP: You may need to conduct your own search for this application. You can easily do this by typing “Static FBML by Facebook” in the application search box.
Once you have obtained the app, then all you have to do at this point is click on the “Add to my Page” link at the upper left hand side. You may receive a popup too; make sure you select on the popup that you would like to add this app.

Step 5: Setting Up The FBML Application

Once you have added the FBML application to your Facebook page, make sure that you go back to your page. Once there, click on the “edit” tab and then scroll right on down until you find the “FBML Static” app. Click on the “Application Settings” and then swap the default settings so that you have removed the ‘box’ and then added the ‘Tab’. This will enable you to create a new tabbed page as your Facebook landing page.

Step 6: Adding The Coding For Your Facebook Landing Page

You can now start to fully customize your landing page. You may first want to change the box title. An easy box title you may want to have is “Welcome”, simply because this is the very first page that any visitor is going to see. You can then insert the code that you want to display. The coding can be as advanced or as basic as you see fit. You can start with having it be just one image that will redirect visitors to your blog or to an offer that you are making online.

Step 7: Set Up Your Landing Page

Click back over to the edit screen again. Find the “Wall settings” and then click on the “Edit” link. This will expand the box. From the second drop down menu you will now be able to find your brand new landing page by the name that you gave it (in this case, it would be “Welcome”). You can then change some permission settings, such as whether or not you will allow visitors to write on your wall, post links, post photos or post videos.
TIP: You may want to disallow anyone from posting links or photos or videos to external sources. This is your page, after all, so the focus should be on your blog and not on whatever the visitors are posting.

Step 8: Promoting Your Facebook Page

The best and easiest way to start promoting your page is to “like” your page and become a fan. This way it will be automatically added to all of your friends’ feeds, and you will definitely have a few fans by the end of the day.
Once you have done this, it’s time to hunt down some new fans. You will want to post about your new page on Facebook to bring awareness to it. You will want to add the link to your Twitter account. You can also find apps online that will help you find Facebook members who you can add as a “Friend” who may have an interest in your blog!

10 Creative Ways To Make Money Online

Make More Money OnlineShare Button
If you’d claimed it was possible for the average guy on the street to make millions of dollars online just a decade ago, the chances are good you’d have heard nothing but laughter in response. Today, though, there are countless Internet millionaires who turned a great idea into obscene profit, used the power of the web to promote their offline business or simply worked their butt off to sell their skills online.
While it’s unlikely that you’ll ever earn enough to buy your own private island, there’s nothing to stop you from using your skills to make a comfortable living online. In fact, while the media would have you believe that online success stories are limited to just a few lucky, hard working people who stumbled on a great idea that went on to make millions, the reality is that there are tens of thousands of people who make a living exclusively online. Here are just ten ways you can join them.

How To Make Money Online

1. Sell Stock Photography

Sell Stock Photos OnlineThe Internet has caused an explosion in the demand for stock photography. As the number of media and commercial outlets has increased dramatically with the growth of online media there’s an enormous need for high quality stock photos.
Yuri Arcurs is the man everyone turns to for their stock photo needs. As the world’s top selling stock photographer he sells an image every 8 seconds, 24 hours a day (that works out to over 4 million images each year). Arcurs makes millions of dollars each year simply by being the best at what he does. There are lots of great photographers in the world and the barrier to entry is as low as ownership of a camera, but Arcurs has managed to build a reputation online for consistent, high quality and imaginative images.
If you’re a professional photographer (or even just a hobbyist) you should consider the possibilities of selling stock images online.

2. Tweet For Sponsors

Sponsored TweetsSponsoredTweets.com is an online platform that allows you to make money on Twitter by charging sponsors for communicating their advertising messages to your followers. You set the amount you want to get paid for every tweet you make, choose a category and select keywords you want to work with. You then wait for advertisers to contact you and take you up on your offer, paying you the amount you specified for each tweet that you make.
All throughout the process, the tweeter has full control over his or her account, and may choose the wordings of the tweets, or may choose to reject the tweet altogether.

3. Blog for Ad Revenues

Google Adsense Money OnlineIf, however, you already have a blog with a devoted following it should be easy for you to leverage your readers into hard cash. Ad networks such as Google AdSense pay big money to place their ads on your site, and you’ll receive a payment every time a reader clicks one. While it’s easy to go overboard and fill every spare pixel, if you place your ads well it’s possible to make a comfortable income from your site.
One of the most successful bloggers around today is John Chow, a Canadian blogger who makes more than $40,000 a month through ad sales and other revenue streams. Ironically, his blog is about ways to make money online.

4. Sell Affiliate Products

Affiliate marketing money onlineIf you have a flair for sales copy you could try your hand at selling products for affiliates. Even better, if you have the skills to make things people want to buy you could start your own home-based craft business, selling to customers around the world.
